Specifications
Austenitic stainless steel alloy composed of a chromium content between 16% and 18%, nickel between 11% and 14% and molybdenum between 2% and 3%. It is obtained from X5CrNi1810 steel with the addition of 2.5% molybdenum, useful for improving the resistance to electrolytic corrosion (pitting) from chlorides. This latter feature makes it suitable for operation in environments affected by sea water and in naval applications.
The 316L has a carbon content of less than 0.035% (316 admits up to 0.080%) useful to prevent the precipitation of chromium carbides and therefore corrosion.

Stainless steels (or stainless steels) are iron alloys characterized, in addition to the mechanical properties typical of carbon steels, by a remarkable resistance to corrosion, especially in moist air or fresh water.
This ability to resist corrosion is due to the presence of alloy elements, mainly chromium, able to passivate, that is, to cover themselves with a thin and adherent oxide layer, practically invisible, with a thickness equal to a few atomic layers (of the order of 3-5 × 10−7 mm), which protects the metal, or alloy, underlying from the action of external chemical agents.

It is a hybrid chromium steel: the chromium content ranges from 18 to 26% and that of nickel from 4.5 to 6.5%, insufficient quantities to determine a totally austenitic microcrystalline structure (which therefore remains partly ferritic) . Almost all of its variants contain between 2.5 and 3% molybdenum.

Monel is a metal alloy formed of nickel and copper. The Monel 400 alloy mainly composed of nickel (up to 67%) and copper to 32%, has a relatively high mechanical strength, good corrosion resistance and good weldability.
The Monel K500 alloy is obtained by adding some small quantities of Aluminum and Titanium to the monel alloy. Its composition is: Nickel 60%, Copper 30%, Aluminum 2.7%, Titanium 0.5%. This alloy has a double mechanical strength compared to the Monel 400.

It is an alloy of nickel, chromium, iron with additions of molybdenum, copper and titanium, with exceptional corrosion resistance in many aggressive environments. It is highly resistant to corrosion. It has a high nickel content, sufficient to resist chloride ion corrosion, and a very stable austenite structure.
The molybdenum and copper levels allow the alloy to resist reducing agents and acids.

It is a light metal, but resistant, with a silver gray appearance due to the light oxidation layer, which forms quickly when exposed to the air and which prevents corrosion as it is not soluble.
Aluminum has a specific gravity of about a third of steel, or copper; it is malleable, ductile and can be easily worked; it has excellent corrosion resistance and durability. Furthermore, it is not magnetic, does not make sparks, and is the second metal for malleability and sixth for ductility.

It is an oxidizable alloy formed from copper (Cu) and zinc (Zn).
The machinability of the binary copper-zinc alloys is good, but the toughness causes the formation of very long chips; then lead (Pb) is added which, insoluble and extraneous to the crystalline structure, disperses at the edges of the grains: thus the chips become short or even dusty and the tools undergo less wear and heating, with consequent improvement in quality and of the processing speed. Lead brass is also called dry brass.

This alloy composed mainly of copper, is enriched with tin up to 8-9%, giving rise to alloys with good mechanical characteristics and great resistance to corrosion: these alloys are still plastically workable and can be laminated, extruded, forged, printed and drawing. By further increasing the tin content, the hardness reaches levels that allow only pieces obtained by casting, also called castings.
On an industrial level, bronzes are produced with contents up to 30% tin.

Hastelloy C-22 is a very versatile nickel-chromium-molybdenum-tungsten alloy, which has improved corrosion resistance compared to nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloys (alloys C-4 and C-276). In fact, the C-22 alloy exhibits excellent behavior towards environments that promote pittting and cervix corrosion, and also has considerable resistance to stress corrosion cracking. Hastelloy C-22, thanks to the high presence of chromium, compared to the other alloys of the C series, also has excellent resistance to oxidizing agents in solution such as nitric acid, ferric ions and chlorine ions, while the presence molybdenum guarantees good resistance to reducing agents.
